What is a Jet Towel™
The Mitsubishi Jet Towel™ is a high speed hand dryer that has been in production since 1992 in Japan. It utilizes a new technology to dry your hands which does not rely on heat but forces water from hands using high speed jets of air.
-
How does the Jet Towel™ work?
When hands are inserted into the Jet Towel™, sensors are triggered, which starts the motor blowing high speed jets of air onto your hands. Water is forced off the hands as they are slowly withdrawn from the dryer. This method is very quick and can dry your hands in 8-10 seconds, unlike conventional hot air dryers which can typically take 40 seconds or more. Excess water is collected in the Jet Towel’s removable drip tray for later disposal.
-
Why should I use a Jet Towel™?
There are many reasons why you should use a Jet Towel™. Some of these are:
* Hands are dry in a fraction of the time of conventional dryers.
* Energy consumption is a fraction of conventional dryers.
* Most quiet operation when compared with competing brands or conventional electric dryers.
* Very hygienic, no touch operation.
* Designed for long service life utilizing the very latest in motor technology.
* It can form part of your CO2 reduction strategy and assist in making your business ´greener´.
-
How is the drying time reduced?
Unlike warm-air dryers, where the hands are dried while being rubbed together, Jet Towel™ uses nozzles on the inner sides of the unit where the hands are inserted. As the jets of air are directed at the hands, drops of water are literally forced off.
-
How much wind is generated?
Set to the "Hyper" position, the Jet Towel™ generates roughly 3.6 cubic meters of wind per minute using the special Jet Towel™ motor.
-
What is special about the motor?
Unlike ordinary motors, the Jet Towel™ uses a DC brushless motor which provides very long life and no serviceable parts. This equates to over 3600 hours of motor use. Read more about the Jet Towel motor he
-
Isn’t the Jet Towel™ noisy? And what are the different sound levels equivalent to?
The Jet Towel™, when set to the "Hyper" position, produces approximately 58dB of noise. This is quieter than conventional hand dryers. Since warm-air dryers operate considerably longer (40-50 seconds) than the 8-10 seconds needed for the Jet Towel™, overall noise exposure is dramatically reduced. New Jet Towel™ technology using waved shaped nozzles have also added to the reduction in overall noise generated.
70dB : telephone ringing
60dB : noisy office, usual conversation
50dB : usual office.
The Jet Towel™ in only 58dB in unheated and standard mode and 61dB in high speed mode. -
How much energy does the Jet Towel™ consume?
The heated version in high speed mode uses 1240 watts with the heater on and 720 watts with the heater off.
In standard mode the unit uses 1070 watts with the heater on and only 550 watts with the heater off.
The unheated unit also uses only 550 watts. -
Why would I need the heated version?
You may consider the heated version because when air is accelerated up to 106 meters per second, this can create an element of wind chill, particularly if installation is in a cold environment (e.g. warehouse, outhouse etc). Many customers choose to leave the heater off during summer, but may switch it on during colder periods
-
If I have the heater on, will it dry quicker?
The principal of drying is by forcing the water off your hands not through heat. However the heater may offer minimal drying improvement of 1-2 seconds.
-
Does the Jet Towel™ low power consumption mean it’s an environmentally friendly hand drying solution?
Yes. Apart from the substantial cost savings you can achieve by installing the Mitsubishi Jet Towel™, this high speed hand dryer is an easy way to make a small, but effective contribution to improve the environment.
The Mitsubishi Jet towel™ minimizes the usage of natural resources and reduces (paper) waste and CO2 emission. When you have chosen to install the Mitsubishi Jet Towel™ a statement is being made that less waste, less use of natural resources and increased cleanliness are paramount to your operating mission! -
Isn’t high speed hand dryers more expensive than other types?
Some conventional dryers are available for less than 500 euros. However, many users are dissatisfied with their longer, 40-50 second drying time, and some refrain from using them altogether. High-speed hand dryers, even at a higher price, are certain to eliminate these types of user complaints. Used over an extended period, it will also be more economical to run than use of paper towels, cloth towels on rollers or conventional hand dryers.
-
How much can I save by using the Mitsubishi Jet Towel™?

Jet Towel™ collects waste water removed from your hands safely in a drain tank at the base of the dryer. No more wet walls, floors or clothes. Operation of the dryer is automatic and therefore no contact is required by the user.
In order to improve hygiene even further, the Mitsubishi Jet Towel™ features an antibacterial coating which uses Silver Ion Technology to prevent the spread of bacteria and funghi on both external and internal surfaces of the Jet Towel™. -

-
Why have there been over 650.000 Mitsubishi Jet Towel™ sold worldwide?
From the users point of view, the biggest advantage is the incredibly fast drying time. Compared to the 40 to 50 seconds required by a typical air dryer, the Mitsubishi Jet Towel™ reduces the drying time to less the 10 seconds.

How often will I need to attend to it?
The drain tank has the capacity to hold approximately 800 uses. If the tank is left unattended for long periods, the water will vent slowly onto the floor leaving the dryer operational.
Because the anti-microbial properties run through the material itself, you can use alcohol based cleaners. A life time filter which protects the motor from dust and debris will require occasional cleaning. -
It seems expensive, what is the usable life of the Jet Towel™?
Your reduction in energy consumption will save you money – a basic cost study calculator is provided in on our Calculate Savings page to help determine your own on site savings.
The Jet Towel™ motor technology has been tested to operate for 1000 uses per day, 365 days per year, for 7 years before the motor reaches its mean time failure. This is based upon langlasting endurence tests on Japanese airports where the usage of the hand dryer can be extremely intensive.
The Jet Towel™ may be a little more expensive than conventional hand dryers, but the savings in energy and user satisfaction, make it a financially sound and pleasurable purchase. -
If a child were to hang by his hands from the unit, could it possibly be torn from its mountings and fall off the wall?
If a model such as the JT-SB216ESH, for example, is securely fastened to the wall using the six mounting screws provided, it should be able to endure 240N. But please prevent children from hanging on it and such abuse should be avoided whenever possible. (Naturally, this presumes the wall itself is robust.)
